The CTCL-NLUD has been organising the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day events annually since 2016.
The symposium is dedicated in the Memory of Late Shri Arun Jaitley, former Union Finance and Minister for Corporate Affairs, who spearheaded the enactment of the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The association of Late Shri Arun Jaitley ji, former Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister of Govt. of India, with NLU Delhi is both old and close, being a Member of the Governing council of NLUD, he visited NLU Delhi on several occasions.
At the inaugural ceremony of the symposium, the dias was graced by legal luminaries. Dr. Risham Garg, Associate Professor of Law & Director, Centre for Transnational Commercial Law (CTCL), National Law University Delhi, spoke about the Symposium. Prof. Dr. Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi, delivered the Welcome Address. Mr. Amarjit Singh Chandhiok gave the Partner Address; while the Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. M. S. Sahoo, Chairperson, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI). HMJ Pratibha M. Singh, Judge Delhi High Court, delivered the Presidential Address as the Chief Guest; and Prof. Dr. G. S. Bajpai, Registrar, National Law University Delhi gave the Vote of Thanks bringing the addresses to a completion and commencing the sessions of the symposium.
There were four sessions in the symposium:
Session I - Resolving the Resolution Process: tangling and untangling the knots
Session II - Stimulus to the Resolution Applicant and the challenges therein (Ss. 31,33)
Session III - Running the Liquidation Process: potholes on the highway
Session IV - Emerging Jurisprudence – key issues
Leading practitioners of insolvency and bankruptcy spoke in these sessions, and the symposium was attended by practitioners and academics in good numbers.
