Amendment in SEBI (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014/ SEBI (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014

On 16 June 2020, SEBI notified amendments to the SEBI(Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014 and the SEBI(Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014. The amendments, inter alia, allow for de-classification of persons and entities as sponsors andinduction of new sponsors while also introducing whitewash waiver provisions for Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Additionally, the amendment also eased lock-in requirements for REITs.
